7th generation egg farmers, Nathan and Wendy Burns, operate Burns Poultry in Freetown, Prince Edward Island. Their 4 children Shelby, Kendall, Mallory and Mitchell like to help with chicks and grading eggs.

The Burns have renovated two barns to fully enriched colony housing which includes nest boxes, perches, scratch pads and a lighting system that mimics natural sunrises and sunsets.

The farm has 32,000 laying hens, raises their own replacement pullets and grows corn. In addition to the poultry, the family also owns and operates a grain drying business.

The Burns are members of the P.E.I. Federation of Agriculture, and the P.E.I. Young Farmers Association. Nathan is a board director with the Egg Farmers of P.E.I. and Wendy sits on the Animal Care Committee.
