Willem and Irma Vanderleeuw operated a dairy farm in Cardigan, P.E.I. in the 90’s before moving to Ontario in 1998. While in Ontario the couple ran a marina and trailer park for 8 years, and for 4 years had 300 milking goats. In 2013 the couple returned to Prince Edward Island and, not yet ready to retire, they began a new venture and started their sheep and strawberry farm.

The Vanderleeuws’ have upwards of 100 sheep and they grow their own hay and silage. The farm also grows 6 acres of strawberries which is open for u-pick during the summer months at their farm in New Haven.

Willem sits on the PEI Federation of Agriculture board as a representative for the P.E.I. Strawberry Growers Association. He was also recently appointed as a director of the PEI Sheep Breeders’ Association.
