Roger O’Neill from Heatherdale Honeybees has been expanding his operation over the past number years and currently has 60 locations from east of Souris to West Cape, with over 1500 hives.
Roger primarily rents his hives to blueberry producers for crop pollination however has also pollinated pumpkins and cranberries. A unique feature of bee colonies is that they can be moved from one location to another and are sought out by many producers for crop pollination. Honeybee’s increase plant production by transferring pollen from one plant to another.
Roger has recently purchased Island Gold Honey which carries a variety of flavoured honey. Roger is a member and sits on the board for the PEI Beekeepers Association.
