Laura MacDonald is a Public Health Practitioner with the Chief Public Health Office, Department of Health and Wellness. She joined the Chief Public Health Office in 2019, taking on the new role of the Provincial Tobacco Control Coordinator.
Laura contributes to the development of policies for tobacco control and the prevention of chronic disease, collaborates with community partners on tobacco cessation and prevention initiatives, while also concentrates on enhancing PEI’s new Smoking Cessation Program. Before joining the Chief Public Health Office, Laura worked with the Canadian Mental Health Association as a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Counselor, focusing on the social determinants of health in relation to mental health and addictions.
