Shearing requires technique and strength, and helps keep flocks clean, healthy and cool. Amber Petersen’s shearing skills are in high demand, and can take her as far as Iceland and New Zealand. She often competes in shearing competitions that help hone her skills and give her a chance to connect with other shearers. At a regular shearing job on the Island, like the day spent at Adam MacLean and Jolene Quiring’s flock in South Melville, Amber is shearing a new ewe every two minutes.

The Faces of Farming calendar is published by the PEI Federation of Agriculture to connects Islanders with the individuals and families who grow their food, and provide a window into an industry vital to the Island economy, environment and communities.
