Growing up on a farm, with an interest in agriculture since the age of 5, Michael Doucette has always had a passion for farming. Michael even grew vegetables to put himself through college. In 2002, Michael started a farm of his own with a focus on growing quality produce and started selling vegetables to neighbours again. In 2009 an application was made to convert the farm to organic. He wanted to offer his customers a healthy product while at the same time being a good steward of the land.Organic certification was achieved in 2010. Michael and his wife Linda have their 97 acre farm in Johnson’s River, PE. They grow a variety of crops including: garlic, onions, shallots, butternut squash, carrots, beets, spinach, yellow beans, rhubarb and black currents. Michael supplies many Island restaurants with his produce and also sells at the Stratford Farmers Market on Saturdays and the Queens Street Farmers Market on Sundays.
