Phillip Jennings, III is pictured here with John MacSwain at Lorne Valley Ranch with some of the Ranch’s high bush blueberries. These high bush blueberries are genetically naturally bred to the demographic region of PEI.  Plants were selected for yield, taste, aggressive growth, maturity date, disease pressure and cold/wind tolerance. Phillip currently has 10 acres of high bush berries and will expand production by 200 acres next year. The farm also grows 150 acres of low bush blueberries. In addition to the farm in Lorne Valley, Phillip also farms in Georgia, U.S. He farms a variety of irrigated crops including blueberries, corn, cotton, peanuts, turf grass and greenhouse production of tomatoes and lettuce lettuce. Phillip holds a 6 year Agriculture degree from the University of Georgia and is Vice President of the PEI Wild Blueberry Growers Association. John has been working with Phillip to gain experience in alternative crops for the island.
