Report on temporary foreign workers reflects balance, addresses several concerns of farmers
The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) says the recommendations put forward this week by the House of Commons human resources committee in their report on the Temporary Foreign Worker Program reflects a balanced approach that would ensure strong worker protections and lead to positive program changes for producers. Improvements to this program are urgently needed as farmers face critical labour shortages in their businesses. MORE
ESDC/IRCC Webinar on TFWP Operations for Agriculture
CFA would like to pass on information regarding an upcoming webinar on the agricultural streams of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to its members. Any interested members or individual producers are invited to a webinar session with officials from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to learn more about the Temporary Foreign Worker and Agriculture programs within an operational context.
Through this webinar, ESDC and IRCC will provide a comprehensive overview of the end to end application process of the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program and the Agricultural Stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.

Federation of Agriculture offering Forklift Training through the FCC AgSafety Fund
The PEIFA has received funding for forklift safety training through the Farm Credit Canada AgSafety Fund administered through the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association. This training is open to farm employees needing recertification as well as those who may be entering into employment in the agriculture sector.
Courses will be held across the Island and can he hosted at the farm. This training is being offered at a discounted rate of $20 per person. Space is limited.
