The PEIFA is currently recruiting farms to feature in the 2017 Faces of Farming calendar. We welcome all farm families of various commodities and farm history to submit their name for our consideration. The Faces of Farming calendar has become very popular over the years for its ability to share good news stories about local producers while also educating the public about farming in Prince Edward Island.
Should you be interested in having your farm featured, please submit a short description of your farm to charlottec@peifa.ca. If selected the PEIFA will have a photographer visit your farm this summer/early fall to take photos.

A rally in cattle and beef prices might be coming soon if the summer heat wave holds on. Rumors of beef demand slipping have caused speculation the market could drop, but Ted Seifried, vice president for Ag Hedge Group, believes cattle markets are going to be in a holding period, possibly even increasing. “China’s hog market has cycled, and they are having very tight supplies, driving their hog prices to all-time record highs,” said Stuart. “Those high Chinese hog prices are now double the price of US hogs, which is incredible when you think of half the hogs in the world now priced double the US prices.
