Only 0.6% of EU’s potatoes produced in Ireland 

Eurostat has released new figures on the potato sector, which reveal that in 2014, Ireland produced only 0.6% of the EU’s potatoes. The figures also show that just 1% of arable land in Ireland is now devoted to potato growing, compared to an EU average of 1.5% and a high of 15% in the Netherlands. MORE

 

US$4.5m invested in Zambian potato production

A project which aims to substitute potato imports, as well as create export opportunities for the crop, has been set up in Zambia. Potato seed for smallholder farmers in Northern Province will be produced through the partnership between AgDevCo and Saise Farming Enterprises Limited. MORE
